Common Pool

Picture of a light-blue pool.
The pools in Yellowstone are really beautiful. Heated by groundwater, most of the visible part of the pool is kept just below boiling constantly. The extremely hot water refracts light in much the same way that the sky does - causing the pools to be blue.

Geyser-Pool

Picture of a raised pool.
This 'pool' is most likely a geyser actually. When this geyser is not erupting, the water stays in the shape of the pool on top, while pressure is building beneath for the next eruption.
